In honour of Coup de Crayon, presented at the MACM until Sunday 2nd April, the  Mougins MUseum's team is delighted to welcome Grégory Couderc, Scientific Curator at the Musée national Marc Chagall in Nice for a conference entitled
MARC CHAGALL:
"COLOURS MAKE DRAWINGS SING"

Through an exploratory tour of Marc Chagall's work, the conference will address the artist's creative process. In his numerous sketches, lines & colours blend together to give way to the finished works: painting, engraving, stained glass, mosaic... Chagall experimented with numerous techniques such as pastel & collage throughout his life.

This series of monthly conferences (in French) takes place from October to June in the intimate setting of the Egyptian crypt. Each event ends in the friendly atmosphere of a drinks reception, an excellent opportunity for all participants to meet & continue to talk about the topic adressed in the conference.

JANVIER
This year, we are putting the spotlight on a few temporary exhibitions the Mougins Museum is proud to be lending artefacts to.  Our next guests will be Armande Cernuschi, Exhibition Curator, and Georges Cardoso, Registrar, from LUGDUNUM, Museum and Roman theatres, for a presentation on the exhilarating topic of their current exhibition:
SPECTACULAR!  ENTERTAINMENT IN ROMAN TIMES

Gladiatoral combats, musical and theatrical performances, chariot races...as many extraordinary forms of entertainment conducive to social cohesion that contributed to glorify the city and the power of Rome. Organisers of such events were at the height of ingenuity to stage the most spectacular shows. Although they were for all to enjoy, men and women, slaves and wealthy officials alike, the seating arrangement in arenas and theatres echoed nonetheless the Roman social hierachies.
