Here is the starting point of Damien Hirst's Treasures of the Wreck of the Incredible, which was exhibited from April until December 2017 at two exceptional venues in Venice: Pinault Collection's Palazzo Grassi and Punta Della Dogana. For this show, Damien Hirst had created the myth and staged the archaeological find of these artefacts that the disconcerted visitor would then discover from room to room.
Since being on display in Venice, The Severed Head of Medusa in gold and silver has been seen at University of Oxford's 'Ashmolean Museum, at Kings CollegeLondon for the exhibition The Classical Now ! (photo opposite) and at the Saint-Raymond Museum Toulouse in Age of Classics, Antiquity in pop culture. It will soon be exhibited at the Mougins Museum.
